What Desktop owns
Beale Desktop is the trusted Electron host harness. Its renderer presents workspaces, sessions, Fleet, automations, plugins, reports, and settings. The main process handles host-facing services such as provider sign-in, browser integration, local filesystem selection, and the app-server client boundary; the preload bridge exposes typed operations to the renderer.
Desktop can launch New Research, steer a running session, review tool traces and approvals, open side panels, manage workspace records, and inspect remote work. The actual research run and durable research database remain app-server-owned.
Install and update
The Downloads page always resolves the latest public macOS or Windows release. The macOS build is signed and notarized; the Windows installer uses the release signing flow. Source installation is available for development and for platforms without a packaged Desktop release.
